A partner at Alvarez, Winthrop, Thompson & Storey, Phil Storey has more than 25 years experience as a successful commercial litigator, bankruptcy and transactional lawyer. Throughout his career, Phil has been keenly focused on providing clients with exceptional value and integrity. He has extensive litigation experience in the areas of banking, Uniform Commercial Code, construction, landlord and tenant, real estate litigation, contract disputes, foreclosures, replevins, and collections. He also leads the firm’s real estate practice where the firm’s clients include lenders, developers, buyers, sellers and landlords. He guides clients on issues such as acquisitions, sales, financing, leasing, foreclosure and bankruptcy.
While Phil has a long track record of success, he understands that “winning” a case through a lengthy and costly court battle is not always in the best interests of his business clients. He finds that telling the client the truth about their case from the beginning is the best way to help his clients make the most rational decisions regarding litigation. His number one priority is helping clients make not just the most strategic but also, the most cost-effective decisions.
Phil also handles appeals for his clients and has many reported decisions in the state of Florida. He is licensed to practice in all state and Federal courts in Florida as well as in the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
An Orlando resident since 1973, Phil maintains strong ties to the Central Florida community. He has been an active force for Easter Seals Florida, Inc. since his son was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome, helping the statewide organization carry out its mission of providing services to children and adults with disabilities and other special needs. Phil has been a member of the local and state boards for more than 15 years. He previously served five terms as the Chairman of the Central Florida Advisory Board and also served a two-year term as the Board Chair and Chief Volunteer Officer of the State Board of Directors. He has also served as an Easter Seals National Delegate and as a member of several national committees.
