BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE
Edwina V. Kessler is Of Counsel with Alvarez, Winthrop, Thompson & Smoak, P.A. Her practice area focuses on litigation.
Edwina received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History at the University of Florida and then attended Nova Southeastern University obtaining her Juris Doctorate Degree in 1994. While in law school, she served on the Executive Committee for the Student Bar Association.
Edwina has been practicing in the personal injury litigation defense side for over 28 years starting her practice along with her father, Charles Kessler and sisters, at the Pyszka, Kessler Firm which has since become Catri, Holton, Kessler & Kessler, P.A. The practice defends a wide variety of insureds and self-insureds primarily focused on transportation litigation, representing truck companies, truck insurers, bus lines, and all manner of commercial vehicles involved in personal injury claims, freight and cargo claims and premise liability claims. Throughout her career she has also represented amusement parks, daycare facilities, department stores, grocery stores, and the School Board of Broward County.
Edwina is a Martindale Hubbell AV Rated Preeminent Attorney. She has been involved in various voluntary bar associations. As a young lawyer she was on the Young Lawyers Board of Directors and eventually became President of the Broward County Young Lawyers for 2002 to 2003. She then went on to sit as President of the Board of Directors for the Broward County Bar Association from 2018 to 2019. She is also in charge of the Publicity Committee for the Broward County Bar Association. She is currently the Treasurer of the Broward County Woman’s Lawyer Association.
Edwina was born in Miami, Florida and raised in the Fort Lauderdale area. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling, boating, and spending time with family and friends.
